Brazil Brasil, Center for Fine Arts Brussels

Brussels, 2012

The ‘Brazil.Brasil’ exhibition is one of the main events at the International Arts Festival Europalia 2012. The show explores the different visions of Brazil created by its artists and the country’s different identities. It includes contemporary art, great master’s paintings, sculptures and archaeological treasures.

Often referred to as ‘Bozar’ or ‘PSK’, the Centre for Fine Arts is an Art Deco masterpiece. Opened in 1928, the building is built over eight levels. It combines three concert halls, exhibition spaces, and lecture rooms in one harmonious whole.

All the walls behind the artworks are covered with the fabric Ginger. The way the fabric is used reflects a 19th century design concept for creating a specific atmosphere inside exhibition rooms. 1300 metres of fabric were used in total.
