LIVE IN 2050

For Shenzhen Creative Week 2021, Kvadrat has collaborated with designer and curator Ximi Li for the curation of the design space – LIVE IN 2050 – an exhibition included in Design Compass pavilion, the newest addition to Shenzhen Creative Week.

Ximi Li has created five conceptual pieces using Kvadrat textiles as the protagonist with the view to examine the future of furniture design. Visitors are invited to reflect on how new technologies and materials will impact our way of living, and explore the shifts to come. The conceptual pieces include Mix-set, Solo Mirror, Hug Chair, Cave Table and Wave Table.

The 300m2 section was located in the Design Compass pavilion in Hall 11.

Ximi Li holds a Master of Furniture Design from Politecnico di Milano and a Bachelor of Industrial Design from China Academy of Art.

Before establishing Ximi Li Design and furniture brand URBANCRAFT, Ximi worked for renowned designers Andrea Branzi and Luca Trazzi in Italy. Having the experience of being infused in different aesthetic systems in both China and Italy, Ximi was drawn to explore the synaesthesia of cultures. With the establishment of URBANCRAFT and Ximi Li Design, Ximi seeks to observe the cultural elements of the world and reflect on their historical roots from the viewpoint of a Chinese designer, and further convey them in rigorous and creative design languages.

In 2019, Ximi was named ‘Rising Talents China’ by Maison & Object. In the same year, Ximi was awarded one of the ‘40 under 40’ prominent designers shaping Hong Kong and Greater China by Perspective Magazine, and one of the 'Generation T 100' future leaders by Tatler.
