Stabil was founded in 2014 by Max Guderian and Clemens Lauer (both born Germany, 1990), who met while studying at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design.
Stabil see themselves as a design tag team and designers for new, everyday things.
Their latest project is an international café: a place where refugees and locals can meet. The interior is filled with objects known all around the world, so there is no cultural determination in the whole café. In 2015, they realised furniture-objects based on drawings of ten-year-old children as a series of design pieces, evoking the question of what design actually is, who can do it, how it can develop and what alternatives are out there. In their design, everything flows from the idea. Both designers are still studying, and their work extends to non-commercial and commercial projects. They have worked for Chris Kabel (Guderian) and Richard Hutten (Lauer).
