Polyester and creative freedom

Polyester enables us to achieve the exact colour, touch, and form we imagine for our designs. In addition to delivering excellent functional performance, it provides virtually complete creative freedom to the leading designers, artists, and architects we collaborate with.

Consequently, using polyester enables us to keep pushing the boundaries of high-quality textile design. To ensure our polyester textiles offer longevity, performance, and a creative expression that lasts for years – and minimise transport -, we produce them in Europe.

Transitioning from virgin to recycled by 2025

At Kvadrat, we are committed to accelerating positive change while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of high-quality textiles. On our journey to become a circular company, we aim to offer 85 recycled products by 2025. These will contribute 30% of our revenue. Reflecting this, we are steadily transitioning away from virgin polyester to recycled polyester. To meet our commitment to uncompromising performance, we still offer some textiles made from virgin polyester, which is recyclable – it delivers performance benefits other materials can not yet match.

From waste to weave

The recycled polyester we use for several of our upholsteries is derived from disposable plastic bottles. It takes advantage of one of the most efficient ways to recycle and embodies our commitment to Conscious Design Principles.

Relate by Patricia Urquiola

Relate is a sophisticated twill weave upholstery textile designed by Patricia Urquiola made from Trevira CS, which has a soft hand resembling natural fibres.

A faux-uni, Relate looks monochromatic at first glance but, under closer inspection, reveals a dense diagonal weave that unites two different unicoloured yarns which seemingly melt together. The textile’s compact twill-woven construction subtly references the world of fashion and captures a sense of movement.

Reflect by Patricia Urquiola

Made from recycled polyester, Reflect has a natural expression and a particularly tactile touch. Initially appearing as monochromatic, the textiles reveals a dense diagonal weave that combines two different colours. Its twill woven construction – identical to that of Relate – subtly references the world of fashion and captures a sense of movement.

The versatile palette for Reflect comprises 35 colourways and expresses confident colour combinations by matching warm notes with closely related nuances.
