Glowing Introduction | Tarafdar Studio

At Tarafdar Studio in the Welsh city of Cardiff, a Kvadrat Shade window covering solution controls light and privacy and helps increase productivity. It complements the studio's design philosophy, which brings together design classics from different eras and cultures.

Founder and Creative director Ibby Tarafdar specified the Kvadrat Shade roller-blind solution for the sash windows at the studio. It features semi-open cassettes, a grey Apo textile and is chain operated.

Ibby Tarafdar: “Visually, the blinds look seamless, while semi-open cassette adds layers, protects the blinds and previews the exterior of the aluminised APO textile. Due to its 6% light transmission performance, when the blinds are down the beautiful view of different buildings outside is transformed into blocks of blurred lines and shapes. Simultaneously, a lot of light can enter the studio. It’s really interesting playing with the different levels and layers of light. “

Tarafdar Studio specialises in brand identity design. After many years of working in design and attending design events around the world, Ibby Tarafdar often noticed he was often the only person of colour in these settings. The graphic designer felt compelled to lead the way and create a welcoming space to inspire creativity and raise awareness of good design in Wales.
