Pain de epices

(Serves 4)


100 g dark syrup
100 g butter
100 g brown sugar
1.5 dl. buttermilk
150 g flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 pinch allspice
1 pinch dried ginger powder
1 pinch cinnamon powder
1 pinch clove powder
Cold butter for spread


Melt syrup, butter and brown sugar
Add buttermilk and mix with the dry ingredients
Pour the dough into a heart-shaped mould
Bake in a preheated oven at 170C for 25-30 minutes
Chill the cake before cutting in slices
Serve with cold butter on top
