Practice makes perfect

The London office of international law practice Simpson Thacher Bartlett represents a move towards a more democratic, dynamic working culture. To drive collaboration and wellbeing, the interior incorporates a Kvadrat Acoustics solution and Kvadrat curtains.

Both the Kvadrat Acoustics solution and the curtains contribute to meeting the client's brief to "improve knowledge sharing" and "create a warm and homely feel." By optimising acoustic quality, they enhance the intelligibility of speech and minimize noise. At the same time, they introduce welcoming colours and subtle textures.

Acoustic Soft Cells Tracks are installed on the walls in cellular offices, meeting rooms, and phone booths. The Soft Cells Broadline acoustic panels, which are integrated into ceilings at tea points, meeting rooms, and open-plan zones, seamlessly integrate with the advanced lighting and technical systems. The Kvadrat Acoustics solution enhances the acoustic environment.

The curtains provide visual comfort and the ability to separate areas for staff and visitors – while enabling access to panoramic views across the City of London. They are woven with Unix and Ginger and feature in cellular offices, meeting rooms, and tea points.

Meanwhile, sofas and chairs upholstered in Kvadrat Remix, Canvas and Moss complement the curtains and the Soft Cells acoustic panels. In this way, they add another dimension of sensual comfort to the interior.

The space features a pioneering semi-cellular configuration. Warm colours and natural elements, like wood, wool, and marble, feature throughout the light, airy interior, which also provides a kitchen, a staff café, and a bar.
