Front | Hallingdal Fringe

Curated by Søren Rose

Innovative Swedish design group Front have chosen to recycle cuts-offs of Hallingdal textile that are by-products of the furniture production process.

To create a quilt, the scraps are joined together using an old-fashioned patchwork technique. When washed, and with ongoing use, the raw hems dissolve leaving a fringed effect that gives the whole a three-dimensional character.

Sofia Lagervist, Charlotte von der Lancken and Anna Lindgren are the members of the innovative Swedish design group, Front. Always working together, from initial idea to finished product, they produce output based on common discussions, explorations and experiments. In doing so, they create works - ranging from robotic furniture to a constantly changing interior - that often tell a story about the design process and the materials used.
