Our collaboration with Ronan Bouroullec continues as we introduce three new upholstery textiles to our collection: Alle, Sone, and Tero Outdoor. Each upholstery translates the designer's iconic drawings into the textile medium, bringing a new dimension of subtle graphical expression to the Kvadrat collection.
By juxtaposing monochrome lines next to one another, Ronan Bouroullec’s original art creates organic shapes in very intuitive and instinctive compositions. The abstract succession of sinuous and colourful lines created by Ronan Bouroullec with markers, graphite or ballpoint pens follow the concept of intuitive drawing.
Derived from Surrealism and Écriture automatique, intuitive drawing requires the artist to completely surrender to the art-making process. Suppressing all conscious control allows instinct to guide the artwork’s creation. This ultimately unveils aspects of the artist’s inner self. Ronan Bouroullec’s hypnotic drawings, formed by the elegant repetition of lines, are the result of meditative subconsciousness.
