European XFEL is a scientific research facility in Hamburg due to open in 2017. It will generate ultrashort X-ray flashes, enabling scientists to map the atomic detail of viruses and take 3-D images of the nanoworld.

The facility is in a new building, which includes offices, meeting rooms and social spaces. The interior concept by Blunck und Morgen HH architects brings together a variety of soft furnishings, neutral tones and bolder highlight colours.

Solution

Soft Cells Broadline panels by Kvadrat Acoustics which match the surfaces, colours and furniture in the facility, are used in a variety of meeting rooms, as well as the spacious lobby. They enhance the quality of the acoustic environment, making it easier to conduct conversations.
