Finely tuned engine

A Kvadrat Acoustics solution and Kvadrat curtains, rugs, and upholstery textiles are specified throughout the Engine Room at London’s iconic Battersea Power Station. Together, they support a productive, comfortable atmosphere and meet the desire for a refined aesthetic with rich accent colours.

The Kvadrat Acoustic solution delivers a clean look and a comfortable acoustic climate. Partly chosen for on-site installation flexibility, it comprises Soft Cells Tracks covered in Tonus 4 installed on the walls of meeting rooms, work booths, telephone booths and open meeting enclosers.

Curtains in a matching shade of Tonus feature in the meeting rooms, creating a seamless look with the Soft Cells Tracks. Furthermore, an 8-metre-high curtain crafted from Dawn 2 hangs from an electric track in the Business Club. This sculptural element offers the ability to close off the central platform for special events and presentations.

Diverse pieces of furniture upholstered with Hallingdal, Divina and Remix 3 also populate the Engine Room. They create a subtle visual harmony with Vintage Naturally Coloured Fringes rugs.

Craig Welch, Director of Craig Welch Design: “The intention was to create an environment that does not conflict with the Power Station’s unique industrial character but compliment it by creating a clean refined interior using a restricted material palette. Colours were strategically integrated within the fabric wall linings, curtains and furniture upholstery creating strong accents throughout the business club.”

The Engine Room is a unique, co-working destination for London, within the Battersea Power Station redevelopment. It features flexible offices, meeting rooms and a sophisticated business club, which offers a variety of work and social spaces.
