We are Kvadrat

Kvadrat was established in Denmark in 1968 and has deep roots in Scandinavia’s world-famous design tradition. A leader in design innovation, Kvadrat produces quality contemporary textiles and textile related products for architects, designers and private consumers across the world.

Our products reflect our commitment to colour, quality, simplicity and innovation. We consistently push the aesthetic, technological and functional properties of textiles. In doing so, we collaborate with leading designers, architects and artists including: Miriam Bäckström, Raf Simons, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec, Thomas Demand, Olafur Eliasson,
Alfredo Häberli, Akira Minagawa, Peter Saville, Roman Signer, Doshi Levien and Patricia Urquiola.

Our core purpose

We create high quality design textiles and textile related products that help architects to shape spaces, designers and furniture manufacturers to craft furniture; and consumers to bring their personality and identity with tactility and colour in their homes.

Kvadrat is a dynamic, forward-looking design company and we continuously seek to push the aesthetic, artistic and technological boundaries of textile design. We believe in creativity, in responsibility, and in the people who work for us and with us.

We are one of the most admired and specified textile brands in global architecture, by adding building component products and a sophisticated customer service to our sales offering we hope to become more relevant for both interior and building architects. To continue our growth in the design sector, product designers and new products play an ever-important role. We want to maintain our relevance in the retail sector and desirable, exclusive collections such as our Kvadrat/Raf Simons project will help us achieve that.

Growth depends on the right people and how we work as a company is key to our success. Therefore we will continue to promote a high level of social responsibility and empower our staff to succeed.

Ever since our company’s founding we have used green making processes. We will continue to invest in and promote evermore sustainable methods of working.

Our art and design projects give fuel to our brand and help promote our work on an elevated international stage. Kvadrat will push forward as a pioneering and creative quality brand, committed to helping to shape contemporary culture.

For all our brands we strive to develop products of high quality – products that add value to public and private spaces.

We ensure that we are visionary by constantly exploring and challenging the capabilities of textiles and developing products that have equal emphasis on aesthetic appearance, technology, content and market potential.

At Kvadrat, the term ‘handwriting’ is a combination of the designer’s and Kvadrat’s DNA. The cooperation is based on a dialogue between the two. Within this dialogue is the respect for each other’s original idea. We believe that it is through the dialogue between the designer and ourselves that the renewal begins.

We highly treasure the colours of the textiles. Kvadrat has its core strength in the wide knowledge of colours. We are constantly renewing our colours and are always ahead of different colour expressions. We value the simplicity in our textiles, meaning the precise and pure expression in the design. The design should achieve both a present and futuristic look, without losing its historical origin.

Contemporary culture

Good design is at the heart of all we do. We make a significant contribution to design, art and architecture, we actively influence contemporary culture and work with some of the world’s greatest creative talents.

As part of our Contemporary Culture program we hold regular events with architects, artist and designers at Ebeltoft and at our local offices that are designed to educate our employees in contemporary art, design and architecture.
