David Taylor is a British silversmith, craftsman and designer. He works from ‘Made By’, a studio he shares with fellow designers in Stockholm, Sweden.
His portfolio includes guerilla-art as well as industrial design products. His product design is strikingly concrete: working fast, he produces output with a toy-like clarity. This explores today’s mass-consumption culture and it’s obsession with status, branding and expense.
David Taylor | Darlings
Curated by Søren Rose
Stockholm-based designer and craftsman David Taylor has used the Hallingdal textile to frame a series of looking glasses as upholstered standing objects. Three relaxed, curvacious soft fabric forms are sliced at one side, providing a flat plane for a hard mirror surface, and the result is a compelling visual play of opposites.
With their friendly, uncomplicated form factors lending the mirrors a playful character, David Taylor intends them for use in intimate environments where the user and object can interact and create an easy, down-tempo comfort zone.
