Wave Zero – Maria Blaisse and Bin Xu (The Netherlands)

For Knit!, Amsterdam-based designer Maria Blaisse and interior architect Bin Xu set out to create a piece of furniture that could simultaneously activate and relax the body – a design that brings the body into balance. Wave Zero is a flexible, lightweight birchwood form inspired by a drop of water. With one concave side, and one convex, Wave Zero can either cradle or stretch the body, depending on how the piece is positioned. Its flexible form is completed with two removable mats, or slim seat cushions, upholstered in Kvadrat Febrik’s Mosaic knitted textile.
