State-of-the-art technology united with excellent acoustics
Störmer, Murphy & Partners architects have modernised the HELM offices, building services and façade of the headquarters. A key objective of the architects was to unite state-of-the-art technology with excellent acoustics.
Soft Cells panels are installed in the restaurant and the high-tech conference rooms to ensure excellent acoustic conditions. In the conference rooms, the panels are installed on doors and suspended from the ceiling.
“For a conference area, an acoustic engineer is equally important as an interior designer or architect. So, you have to have that from day one. We decided to use Soft Cells panels suspended from the ceiling and on all the doors that open for storage. This involved overcoming tricky technical requirements. We are very happy with end result,” Martin Murphy, Partner, Störmer Murpy and Partners. Hear more about Martins perception of Kvadrat Acoustics here.
Störmer, Murphy & Partners also added a new aluminium sheet façade, which emphasises the horizontal structure of the building with a striking design motif: diagonal folds in the white aluminium cladding deliver varying light and shadow effects throughout the day; A bridge links the headquarters to Hanse Hause, which is opposite and has an almost identical structure
HELM AG is a multifunctional distribution company specialising in chemicals, crop protection, fertilisers and active pharmaceutical ingredients. The company’s refurbished headquarters, originally designed by architects Hans Jochem and Peter Hauske in 1972, is in Hamburg.
