Kvadrat Art Lab

Kvadrat Art Lab is a dedicated Jacquard loom and production partnership for artist-led textile works, hosted at Kvadrat Weaving in the Netherlands. The initiative gives artists access to specialised weaving expertise and a unique technical setup to develop projects from early sampling through to final weaving, supporting work at scale and in high detail.

Building on Kvadrat’s long-term engagement with contemporary art and design, Art Lab brings collaboration into the production process, enabling ambitious woven outcomes for artists, curators and institutions.  

Kvadrat Art Lab provides a one-of-a-kind advanced machine technology: two Stäubli LXL PRO jacquard computers linked to a single Dornier rapier weaving machine.

This custom configuration enables higher resolution, improved material flexibility, and increased colour complexity compared with conventional jacquard looms. Projects are developed collaboratively from concept and sampling through to final production.
