Ferrite is a metallised roller blind textile made from 100% recycled polyester, entirely from ocean-bound plastic waste, and designed for longevity. Designed by Cristian Zuzunaga, its colour palette draws inspiration from his self-initiated project ‘The Making of the Cube’, in which Zuzunaga specialised in the casting of metal cubes in bronze, iron, lead, and aluminium. Ferrite reflects the colours and textures of these metals, seamlessly integrating them into contemporary interiors.
The high performance metallised backing ensures a 66% solar reflection, supporting improved thermal comfort. With an openness factor of 1%, Ferrite effectively manages glare (class 4) while providing a high level of daytime privacy and maintaining an outside view. The roller blind textile also delivers remarkable acoustic performance (0.55 αw), enhancing comfort and well-being in interior spaces.
Ferrite’s material composition is defined by a focus on transformation. The textile is constructed from recycled polyester sourced from ocean-bound plastic waste and collected through #tide’s established supply chain. The material is processed into new fibres and woven into a high-performance textile, supporting long-term performance and a refined, material-led aesthetic.
