Kvadrat Febrik Arda and Gentle 2 upholstery textiles and Soft Cells panels are specified across the lobby and public-facing spaces at 570 Bourke Street. Together, the textiles and acoustic solutions introduce texture and tonal depth while supporting acoustic comfort in new meeting spaces.

The transformation of 570 Bourke Street reimagines the commercial ground plane as a place for connection and public engagement. Led by Gray Puksand, the interior draws on the landscapes of Victoria to create a sequence of spaces that invite people to meet, pause and connect.

Forest, river, and mountain landscapes inform the zoning, colour and materiality. Arda and Gentle 2 translate this concept through tactile surfaces and natural hues across furniture and joinery. Their knitted structures introduce texture and softness, complementing the broader material palette and creating a consistent thread through the public-facing spaces.

The project also introduces new meeting and multi-purpose spaces across the ground plane. Their proximity to public areas called for careful acoustic control to support focused conversation and different ways of using the spaces. Soft Cells Broadline panels absorb sound and reduce reverberation while bringing the tactile quality of textiles onto the walls.

The acoustic panels form part of the architectural expression rather than a separate technical layer. Their textile surfaces connect with the Febrik upholstery and the wider landscape-inspired material concept. This creates continuity between furniture, walls, and shared spaces while responding to different acoustic requirements.

570 Bourke Street is the first public space in Melbourne to feature Arda. Through the combination of colour, texture, and acoustic performance, the Kvadrat solutions contribute to an interior where sensory comfort and function are considered together.

The project was shortlisted for the Australian Interior Design Awards 2026, and 2026 IDEA Awards.
