Kvadrat wall covering and upholstery fabrics have been selected by gmp von Gerkan, Marg and Partner architects for the National Museum in China – the world’s largest museum with  192,000 m2 of floor space. Located in the heart of Beijing, the building opened in 2011, following an extensive rebuilding programme, which combined the former Chinese History Museum and the Chinese Revolutionary Museum.

The National Museum features contemporary interpretations of the roof typologies, which characterise properties in the Forbidden City, and the colonnades and window systems typical of the original buildings.

1,616 m of Toto in red, black and white is used on the walls of the Academic Reporting Hall, the Jade Hall and the Central Hall. The red shade was specially developed in collaboration with the architects. In addition, the seating in the Cinema is upholstered with 1,070 m of Pro in deep red and black.
