Rabobank Parkstad Limburg

Project
Kvadrat upholstery and Danskina rugs are used throughout the Rabobank Parkstad offices in Heerlen, the Netherlands. The building, which was formerly used by De Nederlandsche Bank, has been renovated by Dreessen Willemse Architects. Originally for 15 staff, the offices can now accommodate 180 employees. Inside, the floor space has been increased with double height platforms, end walls have partially been torn down, and two light-filled interior courtyards have been added. Daylight penetrates deep into the building via pyramid shaped roof lights.

An old 80-centimetre thick safe is a unique feature of the premises. This has been transformed into a meeting room for the building. The building has been given a BREEAM certification with a rating of “Very Good”. This reflects that it is characterised by ‘dense’ construction, facades with a good glazing-to-wall ratio, high quality insulation and glazing, and sustainable materials.

Solution
TonicaRemixDivina Melange and Tonus are used for upholstery on wingback chairs, benches and meeting chairs. Some of the textiles are in gentle, earthy tones that echo natural environment outside. Others are in vibrant, bright hues for highlighting seating areas. Danskina rugs are also used throughout the building, which create a textural balance with the polished stone floors.
