Vattenfall Headquarters

Project
Kvadrat textiles and Clouds have been chosen for use throughout the Swedish headquarters of Vattenfall, one of Europe’s leading energy companies. The HQ reflects a strong focus on the environment. For example, the roof is covered in solar panels and the design concept is based on the five natural elements, which are Earth, Water, Fire, Wind and Ether.

Each of the four buildings that comprise the 56,000 sqm headquarters is themed to match either Earth, Water, Fire or Wind. The areas that link these buildings, which have been designed to facilitate spontaneous meetings between younger and older colleagues, are coloured to represent the fifth element, Ether.

The HQ, of which 45,000 sqm is office space, is BREEAM certified. This means it meets the strict criteria for the world’s foremost environmental assessment and rating system for buildings.

Solution
Kvadrat textiles are used for a variety of purposes throughout the premises of Vattenfall HQ: furniture and pillows are upholstered in DivinaDivina MelangeHaakonBalderHermodFloraHallingdalRemixStarTonus and Steelcut TrioDivina is utilised for wall panels in the conference rooms; Lea and Steelcut for curtains; Polo for screens; and Clouds for decorative purposes. The colours for Lea and Polo were specially developed for the project.

'Kvadrat has a very wide range of textiles in their standard collection, which meet our demanding requirements for design, quality and environmental standards. Approximately 95% of textiles used in the interior are from Kvadrat. We have had a very good and constructive dialogue and cooperation with Kvadrat, notably when developing special fabrics and colours for the project. Kvadrat’s service and delivery guarantees have been a great comfort throughout the project.' Josef Zetterman, Architect at Tengbom
