Muller Van Severen

Muller Van Severen was founded in 2011 by the artists Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen. Bringing their shared passions for art, architecture and materials to their work, the Belgian duo has quickly become one of the most image defining design teams in Europe, working with clients such as Hay, Camper and Reform, as well as producing their own range of pieces.

Materials and colours are often the starting point for Muller Van Severen's designs, which are minimal, fresh and highly sculptural. Their carefully researched pieces seem effortless, always showcasing the natural beauty of the materials they use, and considering the external space around the products as much as the forms themselves. Muller Van Severen's own production pieces are all hand-made by smaller manufacturers and skilled artisans with an honesty to the rawness and irregularity of the chosen material.

The studio contributed to Kvadrat's 2014 exhibition ‘Divina: every colour is divine’. In 2023, for their first colour design commission, the duo created the colours for two Kvadrat rug designs, March and July.
