Project
The Palace of International Forums is a new government building located in the heart of Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent. Created for official events and international conferences, the Palace houses conference rooms, an elegant banquet hall and a 1,850 seat auditorium. Interior designers Ippolito Fleitz created a concept based on two principal goals: to represent the country’s history through the architecture, in a way that respectfully reflects traditional Uzbek values, and to imbue the building with a modern, festive elegance.
Solution
Polo and Pro in the Uzbek national colour turquoise-green were used for the 1,850 seats in the auditorium
‘We chose the Kvadrat Pro fabric for the upholstery of all the seats in the grand auditorium of the Palace of International forums to emphasize the idea of joining traditional uzbek design elements with modern details. The turquoise colour plays a very important role in the cultural heritage of the country. The Kvadrat fabric presents this colour in a very modern, graphic way. The quality of the material was perfect for the project. The service was excellent too: for instance, the beautifully upholstered samples went down very well with the exacting members of the Uzbek government.’ Tilla Goldberg, Director Product Design
