Q: What do you do at Kvadrat?
I work as a salesperson in the A&E segment in Berlin, collaborating with architects on their projects and guiding them in specifying our textiles in their projects. I’m also a Kvadrat Febrik ambassador, which means I’m the go-to person for my colleagues when they have questions about our knitted textiles. I also enjoy working closely with Jos Pelders talking about novelties and finding inspiring ways to introduce them to our sales teams.
Q: How and when did you start your career at Kvadrat?
I joined Kvadrat almost seven years ago after completing my master’s in business economics. I had just returned to Germany after finishing my final semester in the US and had started searching for opportunities in Berlin. I came across this position and applied, even though I didn’t have much knowledge of the industry at the time. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Kvadrat introduced me to the inspiring world of design and architecture, where I’ve continued to grow and learn ever since.
Q: What defines Kvadrat as a workplace in your opinion?
I think of Kvadrat as a workplace where people have a lot of freedom combined with clear responsibilities. Coming from a business economics background, I initially expected to find myself in a corporate environment with complex hierarchies. Starting at Kvadrat introduced me to a way of working that is flexible and supportive, where you are given a lot of responsibility within a structure that feels like a big family. Everyone knows exactly what they need to do, with a strong sense of understanding and collaboration, which is very positive.
Coming from a business university and then diving into the world of architecture, design, and art has been incredibly valuable, both professionally and personally. It is an inspiring environment and an opportunity that I do not think many companies could offer.
Q: What is your passion and how does it fit in your current role?
I’m passionate about aesthetics and quality, and these are all around me every day, whether I’m in the showroom or visiting clients. Like many of my colleagues, I am deeply passionate about the products themselves. For example, when we go to a hotel, the first thing we often do is touch the curtains. That curiosity and attention to detail reflect our passion for understanding materials and their quality.
Through my role, I’ve also developed a strong interest in architecture. Meeting clients and engaging with how cities and buildings evolve has given me a new perspective and a deeper understanding of the thought processes behind these developments. I find this fascinating and appreciate it, and I believe my clients sense this genuine interest.
