Yollie Yu is the People Co-ordinator at Kvadrat Asia. She is actively involved in the recruitment of new colleagues in the Asia team.

"The relationship between colleagues and managers are like friends and mentors, we learn from each other and support each other in different ways. Our leaders are willing to spend time to hear our thoughts and take them into account."

Q: What made you want to work at Kvadrat?

It was mainly Kvadrat’s DNA and passion for contemporary art and design. The company’s mission to always take the lead in our industry with creative talents and continuously push the boundaries while keeping a focus on sustainability is something that I really wanted to be a part of.

Q: What defines Kvadrat as a workplace in your opinion?

Kvadrat is a very dynamic and open-minded workplace. We don’t have a big team in most of our offices outside of our headquarters but we still manage to deliver great performance, driven by our strong team spirit and passion.

The relationship between colleagues and managers are like friends and mentors, we learn from each other and support each other in different ways. Our leaders are willing to spend time to hear our thoughts and take them into account. I find the setup very democratic and inclusive.

Q: What are you most proud of accomplishing while working at Kvadrat?

One of my responsibilities is recruiting. I have experienced the growth of our Asian organisation and helped our managers hire most of our team members. We started with a very few people in the beginning, and now we have grown to be five subsidiaries with around 50 people in Asia. I’m proud to see this growth and development and to have been a part of it.

Q: How would you describe your colleagues and how do you connect with them?

Almost all the colleagues that I have had the pleasure of meeting so far have been very kind and helpful.

It’s very interesting to speak with different people around the world, coming from diverse cultures and backgrounds. We understand and respect different opinions and inspire each other.
