Bethan Laura Wood graduated with a first class BA (Hons) in Three-Dimensional Design in 2006, and continued her education at the Royal College of Art where she studied under Jurgen Bey and Martino Gamper in the MA Design Products department. Wood is fascinated by the connections we make with the objects that surround us and, as a collector herself, likes to explore what drives people to hold onto a particular object yet discard another.
In 2012, Bethan joined 850 Royal Academy of the Arts alumni representing British creative talent as part of Queen Elizabeth II’s Diamond Jubilee. She also won the Designers of the Future award sponsored by W hotels in 2013.
Bethan Laura Wood | Guadalupe Daybed
Fully exploiting the colour punch offered by the Divina range, Bethan has worked with appliqué techniques to create an intensely patterned daybed in a rainbow of bright colours. Wood was inspired by the new Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, in Mexico. Fascinated by the graphic shapes and colour combinations of the stained-glass windows, she has designed a daybed for day dreaming, for taking time to let your imagination flow away into the mesmeric embroidery realised in collaboration with Laura Lees.
