Seat Prop – Ania Jaworska (United States)

The starting point for Seat Prop is a conventional chair typology, which is obscured by the addition of austere geometric cushions. These upholstered foam cushions transform the furniture, creating a complex relationship with a sitter’s body: while they appear highly structural and architectural, they are made from foam that easily compresses and warps to accommodate a body. Given free rein within Kvadrat Febrik’s textile collection, Jaworska chose the knitted fabric Uniform Melange, selecting the material for its spatial qualities as well as its colour, which shifts iridescently between purple and blue.
