Kvadrat Art Lab

Kvadrat Art Lab is a dedicated weaving environment for artist-led textile works.
It gives artists access to a purpose-built, high-resolution Jacquard weaving environment and the expertise of Kvadrat Weaving in the Netherlands.

Working in close collaboration with our technical team, artists develop projects from the first sample through to the final woven work. Building on Kvadrat’s long-term engagement with contemporary art and design, our Art Lab brings artistic collaboration directly into the production process, enabling ambitious works at exceptional scale and precision.

Custom-built exclusively for Kvadrat Art Lab, the loom features a dual-jacquard configuration that expands resolution, colour control and material possibilities. With up to 72 yarns per centimetre and up to 12 weft colours, it enables exceptional detail, subtle tonal transitions and image-like woven definition.

Flexible weft material selection supports a wide range of tactile and visual expressions, while seamless woven works can be produced up to 3.4 metres wide. 

Each project is shaped around the artist’s intent, technical requirements, material choices and timeline. From initial enquiry to feasibility, sampling and production planning, every stage is developed in close collaboration with the Kvadrat Art Lab team.
