Zulu 2 is a light, transparent curtain fabric made from Trevira CS, designed by Giulio Ridolfo. It comes in updated colours and consistently reveals surprising nuances as the light changes.
Though Zulu 2 looks delicate it is robust. The textile is woven with an open leno-binding, which creates a pronounced texture, using fine, shiny yarns. Each colourway combines two different tones – a construction that adds depth and movement to the curtain’s expression. Intriguingly, the colour intensity increases when densely draped, and decreases in front of the window due to its open weave and transparency.

Lightfastness relates to the ability of a textile to retain its colour under light. When testing for lightfastness, samples are exposed to artificial daylight for a specified period.
The evaluation scale ranges from 1 (worst) to 8 (best). An increase of one point corresponds to a doubling of the lightfastness, i.e. the same fading takes twice as long.

Light transmittance indicates the percentage of the visible light penetrating the textile. Densely woven textiles in dark colours usually have a lower light transmittance, whereas loosely woven fabrics in light colours allow more light to pass through.

Regular cleaning is important in order to keep the curtain textile looking its best and to prolong its life. Dust and dirt wear down the textile and also reduce its fire-retardant properties.

Regular care
If possible, we recommend washing curtains once a year. If used heavily, a more frequent cleaning may be appropriate. All curtain fabrics by Kvadrat and Sahco are supplied with a care label. We recommend the use of detergent without optical bleach for all items in which, according to care instructions, washing is possible. Please take into account a possible shrinkage between 1–4 %. It is always possible to wash at a lower temperature that the one specified for light soiling. Please contact a professional dry cleaner if dry cleaning is the only option for maintenance. A professional dry cleaner may also assist in working out maintenance schedules which ensure that the fabrics are maintained properly so that a good indoor climate and maximum duration of the curtains are achieved.
